Daily Maintenance of Forklift Batteries
The core of daily maintenance for forklift batteries is to extend their service life and ensure safety, with a focus on three key aspects: charging management, cleaning and inspection, and status monitoring.

1. Charging Maintenance
- Adhere to the principle of "shallow charging and shallow discharging". Charge the battery in a timely manner when the remaining power is 20%-30% to avoid battery damage caused by over-discharging.
- Use the original and matching charger for charging. Do not mix equipment of different specifications. Ensure the charging environment is well-ventilated to prevent hydrogen accumulation.
- After charging is completed (the charger shows a green light), disconnect the power supply and battery connectors in a timely manner to avoid long-term over-charging. Generally, the duration of a single charge should not exceed 8-10 hours.
2. Cleaning and Inspection
- Clean the battery surface at least once a week and wipe off dust with a dry cloth. If corrosion (white or green powder) is found on the electrodes, clean them with a sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) solution, then wipe dry with a dry cloth and apply petroleum jelly for rust prevention.
- Regularly inspect the battery case for damage or liquid leakage. If liquid leakage occurs, stop using the battery immediately and contact professional personnel for repair or replacement.
- Check the charging cable and connectors to ensure there is no damage or looseness, so as to avoid reduced charging efficiency or spark generation due to poor contact.
3. Status Monitoring and Other Measures
- Check the power indicator light before each use and record the battery's endurance performance. If a sudden and significant reduction in endurance is found, it may indicate battery aging or malfunction, and timely inspection is required.
- Avoid storing or using the battery for a long time in low-temperature (below 0℃) or high-temperature (above 40℃) environments, as extreme temperatures will accelerate battery degradation.
- When the battery is not in use for a long time (more than 1 month), charge it to 50%-70% of its capacity for storage, and recharge it every 1 month to prevent damage caused by power depletion.
